- Enrichment and Community
Boarding life at UWA is rich with opportunity beyond the timetable. Students are encouraged to explore new skills, develop a sense of service, and engage with the world around them.
Culinary Exploration, and Life Skills
Students with an interest in the culinary arts have the opportunity to spend time in the kitchen with the school’s chefs, learning the foundations of cooking in a guided, hands-on environment. These sessions are offered on weekends and tailored to the interests of those who take part.
Gardening and Environmental Stewardship
Weekend gardening sessions offer students a grounding and purposeful activity that connects them with the natural world, teaches patience, and cultivates a quiet pride in nurturing something from beginning to end.
Shopping and Off-Campus Experiences
Once each month, boarders are taken on a supervised outing to shopping centres, places of cultural interest, or destinations they may not otherwise have the opportunity to visit. These outings are organised in collaboration with school leadership and offer students a welcome opportunity to explore the world beyond campus in a safe, structured setting.
Community Engagement and Service
At UWA, students are reminded that the privileges of a quality education carry with them a responsibility to others. Boarders participate in visits to homes for underprivileged children, interact with students from under-resourced schools, and are encouraged to bring their learning and compassion into the wider community. These encounters leave a lasting impression and help shape the kind of globally aware, empathetic individuals that UWA seeks to develop.
